As you might know, in parallel to this blog we "tweet" health stories out of Nigeria via our Twitter page @nighealthwatch. Last year doctors in Lagos State were on strike for three and half months’old strike. For three and half months all public health facilities managed by the Lagos State government were closed to patients...3 and half months!
Since January we have seen stories of strikes from all over the country. So we can conclude that in terms of the distribution of strikes in our country "zoning" is truly dead. Maybe this is the reason it is not on the political agenda. If people are treated equally badly, our politicians are unable to make political capital out of this.
If you have missed the articles please read them and hold your politicians, government and doctors to account. If you don't....people will die. Most importantly at the moment ...go out and register to vote!

This is why Nigeria does not need an election at this moment. The upcoming elections is an excercise in futility as it will accomplish nothing for the average Nigerian who cannot even get a living wage for his labour.We do not have DEMOCRAY in Nigeria, what we have is ELITOCRACY,the government by the ELITES for the Elites.If President Jonathan had to resort to buying PDP delegates to win his party primaries, what do you think he and his party will do in a general election to win back power? There are fundamental flaws and issues unresloved with Nigeria's CONSTITUTION,namely Transparency,Accountability,Checks And Balances By Independent Agencies And The Judiciary,Freedom Of Information Bill,Bill Of Rights And Freedom, which are the foundation on which democracy can be built.Without these been addressed,no real democracy can exist in Nigeria and the Ruling Class will continue to ignore the Welfare of the people while the Plundering and Looting will continue unchecked. Nigerians have seen Tunisia and Egypt take matters into their own hands,maybe it's time we did the same
